Roadmaps and Roadmap Phases are important elements for the architectural planning capabilities of (EA)2. They enable broad brush and putting off detailed updates until you are satisfied with the plan. Read the (EA)2 Life-cycles topic to learn about how the different levels of life-cycles are leveraged by the (EA)2 SQL views.
The diagram below shows the a Roadmap element from the (EA)2 reference model. It uses the Roadmap diagram matrix for the background. The top most element is the Technology Roadmap for Program Development. It was created by dragging the Roadmap Element from the Roadmap and Project toolbox. You can give a description of the Roadmap in the elements properties dialog.
The Roadmap Phases are instances of the Roadmap. There are three of these in the diagram below the Roadmap element. They were created by dragging the Roadmap element onto the diagram while holding the control key. Select As an instance of… in the dialog. Each Roadmap Phase has two user tagged values, Begin Date and End Date, representing the duration of time when the Roadmap Phase's architectural configuration is or will be in effect.
Finally, you can indicate what projects are responsible for putting the Roadmap Phase's architectural elements in place. You do this by dragging the Projects from the Project Browser.
