Application IT Requirements

The IT Requirements diagram shows what IT software is or will be used to satisfy the infrastructure requirements of a business component. The diagram uses the (EA)2 App IT Requirements diagram matrix which has on the left side a list of the various IT Capabilities and to the right columns for the current and future IT software that realizes any of the capabilities that the component requires. The list of capabilities can be changed on the diagram by clicking Diagram | Swimlanes and Matrix… from the top menu, saved to the same name, and made available to others in your organization. This diagram is automatically created when you import a Business System or Business App from its prepackaged XML file. To populate the diagram, simply drag the IT software component satisfying one of the required IT Capabilities from the Project Browser and use the Quicklinker to draw an <<EA2 Provides IT Capability>> connector from the IT software to the Business component. Next open the connector's dialog, go to the tagged values tab and enter the IT Capability being realized.

The diagram below shows some of the IT Requirements for the Player Rating Front End Business App.

As you can see, MS Access is currently being used for the Data Storage Capability and that it will be replaced by Oracle 10.0. Double clicking on the <<EA2 Provides IT Capability>> from Oracle 10.0 and then selecting the Tagged Values tab lets you assign not just the IT Capability being provided, but the life-cycle dates on when the capability will be provided by Oracle 10.0. This is shown on the following diagram.
